50th Anniversary Rugby Union's greatest ever
50 years ago this week, the greatest ever rugby union try was scored at the old Cardiff Arms Park.

Started off by the mesmeric footwork of Phil Bennet and finished off by the brilliant Gareth Edwards. It was the try that also opened one of the greatest Rugby matches ever, the clash of two phenomenal sides that were the All Blacks and the chosen Barbarian side that were put together to face them.

Showcased some of the greatest players ever to handle the oval ball.

Watched it live on TV that damp cold late January afternoon. Never forgotten it. Still get it up on old clips. Breathtaking stuff.

I fucking love rugby and will watch any game no matter who's playing. Can't say that about football I'm afraid.

I highly recommend watching 'Slammed' on the iplayer. What a fantastic side that Wales team was.
Mind-blowing that in losing Barry John to early retirement, they got a better fly half in Phil Bennett.

Cough... Lomu's try was just pure brute strength... happened plenty of times when a forward had targeted a back... ok Lomu was a wing but lets be honest he could have played lock...

where as this...

... is was one of the most glorious things ever in sport... only one that comes near is the saint-Andre try v England in 91...

What makes me laugh in the Ba Ba's try is that in the build up to the try 2 of their players almost get their heads ripped off their shoulders in the build up (JPR a spot earlier)... simple play on... now the RFU are bringing in a rule you have to tackle waist and below... absolute joke

Was it better than the try by Jonah Lomu's steam rollering over Mike Catt
